About us
A firm built for the businesses that build.
Founded in 2022 in Durham, North Carolina, American Development Square exists to give small and growing companies the kind of steady, practical counsel that used to be reserved for much larger firms.
Our story
2022
The year we opened our doors in Durham.
We started American Development Square after watching too many capable owners hit the same wall: the business had outgrown the way it was being run.
Sales were coming in, the team was growing, and yet every week felt harder than the last. Decisions waited on the owner. Processes lived in people’s heads. Plans changed with the mood of the month. None of it was a failure of effort — it was a missing foundation.
So we built a firm around that moment. We sit down with owners, learn how the business really works and help put the structure in place — strategy, operations, growth plans and the everyday disciplines — that lets a company take on more without coming apart.
Our name says what we do: develop American businesses, and keep everything square.
Our approach
Measure twice. Build once.
We take the time to understand a business before we recommend changing it. That means talking with the owner and the team, looking at the numbers and watching how work actually moves. Only then do we design the plan — and we build it with you, not for you.
Understand first
Every recommendation is grounded in how your company really operates, not a template.
Design with the team
The people doing the work help shape the solution, which is why it holds up in practice.
Leave it stronger
We measure our work by what your team can run on its own once we step back.
What we value
The values we build on
Five commitments that guide how we show up for every owner we work with.
Candor
We say what we see, plainly and respectfully. Owners deserve the truth about their business, delivered with care.
Craft
Careful, thorough work — the kind that holds weight for years.
Steadiness
Calm, consistent guidance, especially when the business feels anything but.
Ownership
We treat your goals as our own and stand behind every recommendation.
Respect for time
Owners are busy. We keep meetings purposeful and work focused on what moves the business.
